Senator Rubio Statement on Fatal Sacramento Shooting

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) released a statement today on the fatal shooting of four people at The Church on Wyda Way Monday, February 28, 2022:

“The heartbreaking murder of three young children by their abusive father is an outrage. The legal system failed.  We need to do better. As a survivor, I know how deficient domestic violence restraining orders can be.  That is why I co-authored legislation last year to tighten visitation requirements.  Monday’s devastating events only shows we have more work to do.  Law enforcement, judges, advocates and legislators need to work together to close the gaps in the legal system.  My office will follow this case and similar ones to identify solutions and prevent these horrific and senseless acts of violence from continuing to happen.”
