ONTARIO, CA – Senator Susan Rubio brought together young women from the Pomona Unified School District and Ontario-Montclair School District for her WINGS – Women Inspiring the Next Generation of Sisterhood seminar in the City of Ontario, providing students with a day of mentorship to help them succeed.

The seminar connected students with women leaders, mentors, and community partners for conversations and workshops focused on professional and social etiquette, entrepreneurship and business, domestic violence awareness, healthy relationships, leadership, confidence, and the importance of women supporting one another.

“As a woman and educator for 20 years, I know how important it is for young people to have mentors who encourage them, open doors, and help them recognize their own potential,” Senator Rubio said. “Growing up, I never imagined that I would one day become a State Senator. WINGS is about making sure the next generation of young women can see the possibilities ahead of them, find their voice, and know that they belong in every room where decisions are being made.”

WINGS, which stands for Women Inspiring the Next Generation of Sisterhood, was created to provide young women with a supportive environment where they can ask questions, learn important life and professional skills, build meaningful connections, and hear directly from women who have overcome challenges and built successful careers.

The seminar also included discussions about recognizing the signs of unhealthy relationships and domestic violence, an issue Senator Rubio has made a central part of her work in the California State Senate. By incorporating these conversations alongside leadership, entrepreneurship, and professional development, the program aims to equip students with tools that can support them both personally and professionally.

Senator Rubio thanked the YWCA San Gabriel Valley, etiquette and lifestyle expert Jules Hirst, participating mentors and community partners, the Pomona Unified School District, the Ontario-Montclair School District, and Team Rubio for helping make the seminar possible.

“Our young women deserve opportunities to learn from one another and from women who have walked the path before them,” Senator Rubio added. “When we give girls knowledge, mentorship, support, and a strong sense of sisterhood, we are investing in the future leaders of our communities.”
