Amid Federal Benefit Uncertainty, Senator Susan Rubio Steps Up to Support
1,500 Families Through Annual Operation Gobble
POMONA, CA — Amid growing uncertainty surrounding federal nutrition and food-assistance benefits, Senator Susan Rubio is stepping up once again to support families across Senate District 22. In collaboration with God’s Pantry and several community sponsors, Senator Rubio will host her annual Operation Gobble this Sunday, November 23, at Fairplex in Pomona — providing 1,500 families with Thanksgiving turkeys and grocery bags to help them celebrate the holiday with dignity.
This large-scale food distribution brings together nonprofit partners, local leaders, volunteers, and businesses committed to ensuring families across the San Gabriel Valley do not face the holiday season without support. Senator Rubio has championed food-security efforts throughout her tenure, and this year’s distribution reflects her continued leadership at a time when many working families feel the strain of rising costs and uncertainty around federal programs.
“Families in my district work hard, and during times of uncertainty, they deserve to know their community stands with them,” said Senator Susan Rubio. “Thanks to our incredible partners at God’s Pantry and sponsors, we are able to provide essential support to more than 1,500 households. This is what true partnership looks like, stepping up together for those who need us most.”
Augusto “Goose” Dolce, Executive Director of God’s Pantry, said “We are honored to work alongside Senator Rubio and her team to bless so many families during one of the most difficult times since COVID. GP stands with those often forgotten and demonized by society to bring hope and second chances to create a stronger and safer community for all. Senator Rubio has been a champion and supporter of our vision and we are happy to roll up our sleeves and work together for families.”
