Senator Susan Rubio Secures $25 Million for Alhambra's First-Ever Community Center

Alhambra, CA — Senator Susan Rubio (D–Baldwin Park) joined city leaders, regional partners, and community members today to break ground on the first-ever Alhambra Family Center, a transformative $25 million state investment she successfully secured in the 2022 State Budget.

This groundbreaking marks the beginning of a centralized, trauma-informed resource hub designed to deliver comprehensive services for children, youth, and working families across the San Gabriel Valley.

“Today is more than a groundbreaking — it’s the beginning of a stronger future for Alhambra’s families,” said Senator Susan Rubio. “In 2022, I fought to secure this $25 million because I heard directly from parents, educators, and community partners about the need for a one-stop center where children and families can access critical support without barriers. Even though I no longer represent this community, Alhambra will always be in my heart. I’m grateful I was able to leave a piece of myself behind through this project — something that will serve families for generations”

The Alhambra Family Center will be built through a partnership between the City of Alhambra, local service providers, and regional agencies committed to behavioral health, youth development, and family stability. “I am also deeply honored that the event hall at the new Family Center will be named after me. It is a recognition I hold with great gratitude, and a reminder of the shared work we have accomplished together” added Senator Rubio.

City officials praised Senator Rubio’s advocacy, calling the project a visionary investment that will uplift generations of families.
