State Senator Susan Rubio's Statement on U.S. Supreme Court's DACA Decision

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin) today released a statement on the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

"As a former undocumented student who is now a member of the California Legislature, I know firsthand how hard DACA students work and how much they love and contribute to our country. Today’s Supreme Court decision is encouraging. I hope they continue to rule in favor of Dreamers, giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential and be productive citizens.

We also need to continue to push Congress for a real solution to protect these students. They deserve it, and we need their talents.

I want to encourage all students to continue to follow their dreams and not let their immigration status stifle their passion, their path to a career they love or diminish their ability to return to their communities and mentor the next generation."

Senator Susan Rubio represents Senate District 22, which covers eastern Los Angeles County, and includes the San Gabriel Valley cities of: Alhambra, Arcadia, Azusa, Baldwin Park, Covina, El Monte, Industry, Irwindale, La Puente, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, Rosemead, South El Monte, Temple City and West Covina as well as the unincorporated communities of Avocado Heights, Charter Oak, Citrus, East Pasadena, East San Gabriel, Mayflower Village, North El Monte, South Monrovia Island, South San Gabriel, South San Jose Hills, Valinda, Vincent and West Puente Valley.
