Senator Susan Rubio Stands with Minneapolis and Condemns Escalating Federal Violence and Killing of Alex Jeffrey Pretti
Senator Susan Rubio gives the following statement:
This week alone, we have witnessed a horrifying escalation of federal immigration enforcement that has resulted in the loss of human life — yet again.
Today, Alex Jeffrey Pretti— a U.S citizen was killed during an ICE operation. It has become a common occurrence that U.S born children are taken scared and unaccompanied by agents. Most recently the images of a five-year-old little boy has broken the hearts of millions.
We are still mourning the death of Renée Good, a mother whose life was taken in the course of these same enforcement actions. These are not isolated incidents — they are part of a disturbing pattern of fear-based tactics and escalating violence.
This is unacceptable.
These actions are ripping families apart, traumatizing children, and turning entire communities into zones of fear while ruining businesses and leaving families without jobs.
The federal government is operating without accountability while lives are being lost. This is not justice. This is not public safety. This is a failure of leadership.
California stands in solidarity with Minneapolis and all Minnesotans who are grieving, angry, and demanding answers.
Our federal representatives must step up now. Silence is complicity.
No one — including federal agents — is above the law.
Oversight, accountability, and immediate action — which should include local agencies, are required before more families
are destroyed and more lives are lost
