Open Enrollment Period for Covered California closes March 31

Sign-up for Health Insurance Today

There are many new opportunities for Californians to purchase health insurance coverage. More than 3 million Californians have signed up for coverage through Covered California or Medi-Cal since the beginning of the program's open enrollment period in October 2013. This open enrollment period will end on March 31.

If you are uninsured, unhappy with your current plan, or you would like to check your eligibility for health insurance subsidies, please visit the Covered California website immediately. Covered California is the only place you can receive a subsidy to help make coverage more affordable to you.

While the deadline to purchase coverage is March 31, consumers are strongly encouraged to begin the application process as soon as possible, BEFORE the deadline.

Californians who experience a life-changing event, including the birth of a child or the loss of employer-provided insurance, may qualify to enroll outside of the open-enrollment period. Anyone who does not experience a life-changing event will be required to wait until next year to purchase health coverage in the individual market or through Covered California. Medi-Cal enrollment continues year round.

California's preparation for, and roll out of, the Affordable Care Act is being praised as one of the best in the nation. Sign up today.

About Covered California

Covered California is the state's marketplace for the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Covered California, in partnership with the California Department of Health Care Services, was charged with creating a new health insurance marketplace in which individuals and small businesses can get access to affordable health insurance plans. With coverage starting in 2014, Covered California helps individuals determine whether they are eligible for premium assistance that is available on a sliding-scale basis to reduce insurance costs or whether they are eligible for low-cost or no-cost Medi-Cal. Consumers can then compare health insurance plans and choose the plan that works best for their health needs and budget. Small businesses can purchase competitively priced health insurance plans and offer their employees the ability to choose from an array of plans and may qualify for federal tax credits.

To enroll today please contact Covered California through their website or by telephone at 1-800-300-1506 (TTY: 1-888-889-4500).
