SACRAMENTO, CA – The State Senate Education Committee today passed a bill by Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) that provides additional funding to school districts and charter schools that meet the student-to-teacher ratio of twenty to one.

Senate Bill 1431 will allow students to receive more critical individualized attention and interaction with teachers by incentivizing local education agencies to lower the student-to-teacher ratio to 20:1 within Kindergarten – Third (K-3) grade classrooms.

I know the president has long advocated for these protections. While more needs to be done, reauthorizing the federal Violence Against Women Act will save lives.”

Baldwin Park, California – Senator Susan Rubio (D-Baldwin Park) today presented a $6 million check to the City of Baldwin Park to build a new open space project, which will be called Zocalo Park, in the heart of the city.

“Zocalo Park is the culmination of almost a decade of work over my time as a public servant, first as a councilwoman and now state senator. I’m proud that I could secure $6 million, through Senate Bill 129, to help Baldwin Park realize a dream and give our residents a park they deserve.”
