“There’s so much more respect for immigrants in general,” Ms. Rubio says in a phone interview from Mexico, where she was traveling in a delegation with California’s lieutenant governor, Eleni Kounalakis. “And there is so much more respect” for elected Latino officials, she adds.

Senate Bill 413 reduces costs and increases efficiency at the SGBWQA by staggering the election process that currently overlaps with the city council elections and removes duplicative reporting requirements.

SB 687 will increase the effectiveness and diversity of the state’s efforts to address California’s homelessness crisis by adding a representative of the public higher education system to the Homeless Coordinating and Financing Council.
