Senator Rubio Applauds President Biden and Congress for Bipartisan $1.2 Trillion Infrastructure Legislation

SACRAMENTO, CA – Senator Susan Rubio, D-Baldwin Park, released a statement today applauding President Joe Biden and Congress for its bipartisan $1.2 trillion infrastructure package that will invest in California's roads, bridges, broadband, and wildfire mitigation while creating thousands of clean-energy jobs.

“Investing in our infrastructure means investing in our families, communities, and our future,” said Senator Susan Rubio. “This historic legislation will allow California to continue to lead in clean energy projects, help our communities devastated by wildfires, fix our roads, provide much needed clean energy jobs, and improve broadband so that every family and student has an opportunity to succeed.  I want to thank President Biden and our congressional representatives for staying the course and getting it done.”

The $1.2 Trillion Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act investments in California:

  • $25.3 billion for federal-aid highway apportioned programs and $4.2 billion for bridge replacement and repairs over five years   
  • $9.45 billion over five years to improve public transportation options across the state   
  • $384 million over five years to support the expansion of an EV charging network in the state and the opportunity to apply for the $2.5 billion in grant funding dedicated to EV charging
  • A minimum of $100 million to help provide broadband coverage across the state
  • $84 million over five years to protect against wildfires and $40 million to protect against cyberattacks
  • $3.5 billion over five years to improve water infrastructure across the state and ensure clean, safe drinking water for California communities
  • $1.5 billion for infrastructure development for airports over five years 

Senator Susan Rubio represents Senate District 22 in Los Angeles County. The San Gabriel Valley district includes the cities of Alhambra, Arcadia, Azusa, Baldwin Park, Covina, El Monte, Industry, Irwindale, La Puente, Monterey Park, San Gabriel, Rosemead, South El Monte, Temple City and West Covina as well as the unincorporated communities of Avocado Heights, Charter Oak, Citrus, East Pasadena, East San Gabriel, Mayflower Village, North El Monte, South Monrovia Island, South San Gabriel, South San Jose Hills, Valinda, Vincent and West Puente Valley.
