Dear Friend,

I'm proud to share that today both houses of the Legislature passed the state's budget. Our spending plan is on time, balanced and contains great news for our schools.

The budget also includes $5.7 billion in reserves and speeds up debt repayment, prudent measures to keep the state out of the boom-and-bust budget cycles of the Great Recession.

Learn more about the balanced budget we just passed.

It also makes targeted investments to help economic growth and the well-being of our residents, including increasing access to higher education for California students, adding childcare options for working families, creating an earned-income tax credit for working people and providing help to the parts of the state most affected by our drought.

As always, my office is available to assist, whether it's with a state agency, information on current or previous legislation, or help in filling out government forms, please give me a call at (626) 430-2499.

It is an honor and pleasure to serve you.

Sincerely,

Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez, O.D.
